Two works bound together in one volume by the German anatomist and botanist, Abraham Vater from Wittenberg (1684-1751), and the Dutch biologist and microscopist Johannis Swammerdam (1637-1680) about the physiology and pathology of uterine structure and its tissues in time of pregnancy. The first work includes a 1 folded copper engraved ´Figura Uterus a IV mensibus gravidus´ (picture of the uterus at the fourth month of pregnancy) and the second work other 3 folded copper engraved tables with sections and structure of the uterus. The Miraculum Naturae treatise by Swimmerdam is unfortunately incomplete as it is lacking the gathering ´A´ for a total of 4 leaves.

Nearly contemporary binding in full parchment with handwritten title on spine, exlibris on first pastdown and waterstain on titlepage apparently due to a washed away circular stamp, second titlepage in double ink red and black with woodcut printer’s device, a written blue ink note on the right margin.
