    Humboldt’s Gift

    First edition

Saul Bellow’s works speak to the disorienting nature of modern civilization, and the countervailing ability of humans to overcome their frailty and achieve greatness (or at least awareness). Humboldt’s Gift won the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and contributed to Bellow’s winning the Nobel Prize in Literature the same year.
