Raymond Chandler was an American-British novelist and screenwriter. He was the founder of hard-boiled detective fiction, with its cynical, antiheroic protagonists. The protagonist in Chandler’s novels, Philip Marlowe, was played in films by American cultural icon Humphrey Bogart. Considered one of his masterpieces, The Little Sister was influenced by Chandler’s experiences as a screenwriter in Hollywood.
