    Porrum commune

The engraving is framed in a passepartout and is in good condition. Bright colours. Sheet dimensions 34 x 23 cm.

This early botanical woodcut is from the Latin edition of Mattioli’s book on medical botany Commentarii in sex libros Pedacii Dioscoridis Anazarbei de materia medica published in Venice 1565 by Vincenzo Valgrisi. The work contained over 900 woodcuts of medical plants and herbs, animals and distillation.
