Captain Thomas Brown (1785 – 1862) was a Scottish naturalist and illustrator. Following a military career, he dedicated himself to natural history, with a particular focus on conchology. These shell and fossil engravings are from the first edition of ‘Illustrations of the Fossil Conchology of Great Britain and Ireland’ published in 1849.
